Unimpressed by the default WM6 standard home screens, I went searching for something better. I came across the default HTC theme found on the HTC Touch. The theme is easily installed with a  .cab file and adds the necessary weather and contacts applications that are used by the home screen.

I’ve been using this for a few weeks now with absolutely no issues. I can’t really figure out the contacts application, but I haven’t spent much time playing with it. The weather app works great and is really my favorite feature of this theme. You can also use different colors, so you are not stuck with the default gray color pictured here; personally, I am using the Geneva Bubbles scheme (red) and it works great.

The shortcuts pictured below the clock are (1) for the clock/alarm, using the built-in clock/alarm control panel, (2) the weather app which, when highlighted, replaces the large digital clock, and (3) the contacts app, which also replaces the clock when highlighted. Below those three shortcuts are three more shortcuts for email, sms, and missed calls. Under the messages/calls shortcuts it displays your next appointment.

This is a great theme/home screen, I highly recommend it!
