Canada – A Pirate’s Haven?

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has been a source of annoyance for me for some time now. They are always wining about something. Lately their wining has turned towards US President Elect Barack Obama and how he needs to browbeat free trade partners into accepting the MPAA’s will.

They want to eliminate camcording in theatres and initiate a “graduated response” policy which would basically be a “three-strikes” type of idea.

The part that gets me though, is on the MPAA 2009 country blacklist they have listed Canada! Despite the fact that Canadian anti-piracy laws are in line with international obligations they continue to #@$% all over us. You know what MPAA? Go #@$% yourself.

I applaud Obama for his efforts in transparancy. The whole “political wish list” from the MPAA can be viewed here on Obama’s Change.gov website.
