Please say hello to my new Dyson DC24 vacuum. I picked it up from FutureShop last night after purchasing it for less than the sticker price through their online Labor Day sale. As soon as I got home with it I started the unboxing and assembly process (pictures) and took it for a rip around my apartment. All I can say is “wow”. I am pretty sure that it was vacuuming the apartment below mine as well. I have only been living here since February 2008 and new carpets were installed when I moved in. I also have only had Puma for around one and a half months. The amount of dirt that this thing pulled up out of the carpets was astonishing and kind of gross. I emptied the dirt bin twice for my 720 sq foot space!

This vacuum uses Dyson’s “ball technology“; essentially the entire thing moves around on the yellow ball in the center of the vacuum. The design is genius, the engine is contained within the ball to save space and the ball allows you to intuitively maneuver the vacuum around, pivoting it on the ball!

I completely buy into the Dyson hype now. Their vacuums are expensive, but I have never used anything that even comes close to the performance of this one. Granted, I have only had it for one night. Maybe my view on things will change after a few uses, but I seriously doubt it.
