Down with Gallery2, long live NextGEN

Gallery2 is getting the offical boot as I type; I’m removing all the files from my server, and boy are there a lot of them! I’ve been running the queue on the Gallery2 directory for approximately the last 15 minutes and it’s only about 3/4 of the way there.

As you can see, the Gallery link has been restored in the navigation at the top of the site as has the sidebar photo widget which is a little different now showing 4 photos instead of just one. I’m happy with the configuration I am running on NextGEN now and will probably leave it largely as-is. There will be a little more tweaking of course, but I think this works well enough.

I’ll be culling through my photo collection on my hard drive over the next few days and uploading at least another one or two galleries for you to look at. Stay tuned!

  1. Hi,

how did you export all the photos from your gallery2 to load into netxgen. I want to follow the same route as you and really dont want to have to re start all of this ?

    cheers

    • Hi Jim,

When I converted from G2 to NextGEN I did not have a large gallery so I did it manually. However, I might be doing the same conversion for a client of mine who has a fairly large gallery so I will be looking for conversion solutions. I will keep you posted.

If you find anything in your search please let me know!
